Taylor Wimpey, Western Road, Hagley

Taylor Wimpey
Western Road, Hagley

A sensitively designed new neighbourhood of high-quality, energy-efficient homes, set amongst extensive landscaped open spaces and biodiversity areas.

Land to the south of Western Road, Hagley, was identified as a potential option to contribute to meeting housing need in Bromsgrove District in the Draft Development Strategy which is informing the emerging new Bromsgrove Local Plan.

Alongside the ongoing process of preparing the Local Plan, leading UK homebuilder, Taylor Wimpey, is preparing outline proposals for a sensitively designed, landscape-led new neighbourhood of homes and extensive green infrastructure. This will help to ensure the delivery of high-quality homes at an early stage in the Local Plan period, helping the Council to meet the Government’s housing targets.

Outline vision

The plans are at an early stage, however Taylor Wimpey’s illustrative masterplan for the site at Western Road envisages the delivery of:

  • Up to 350 high-quality, energy-efficient homes in a range of styles and tenures.
  • 50% provided as affordable housing, including shared ownership homes that would appeal to first-time buyers.
  • A landscape-led approach to development, with a significant proportion of the site area provided as high-quality new landscaped public open space and biodiversity areas.
  • Maximum retention of existing landscape features where possible, such as mature trees and hedgerows, bolstered by extensive new planting.
  • An existing bridleway passing through the site will provide connections to a network of new walking and cycling routes through green corridors within the development.
  • Outdoor recreational facilities including play areas for young people.
  • A site at a sustainable location on the edge of Hagley, with opportunities to promote active travel to local facilities.
  • A package of financial investment to support local services and infrastructure.

The proposed development is homebuilder-led, with Taylor Wimpey taking the scheme through the entire process from outline planning to delivery, providing consistency and certainty for the wider community.

Community consultation

From a very early stage in the process, we want to ensure that our emerging proposals for Western Road, Hagley, align as much as possible with the aspirations and priorities of the community.

We have created this website to provide an opportunity for local people to view and help shape our proposals, providing feedback on local priorities for new homes, green infrastructure, outdoor recreation, connectivity and community investment.

Alongside the online consultation, we will also be holding a drop-in information event for those who prefer an in-person format or have limited access to the internet. This will take place as follows and all are welcome:

Date: Friday 9th October 2026
Venue: St Saviour’s Church Hall, 1 Park Road, Hagley, DY9 0NS
Time: Drop-in between 3pm – 6.30pm

EIA Screening request

As part of the process of preparing our proposals for the site, an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Screening request is being submitted to Bromsgrove District Council. This is a request seeking feedback from the Local Planning Authority as to the requirement for an EIA to accompany a future outline planning application. It is not a planning application, however it is published on the council’s planning portal for information purposes.

What is an outline planning application?

An outline planning application establishes the broad principles of development, such as access arrangements, illustrative masterplan, number of homes, community facilities, and general extent of development.

If outline planning permission is granted, a detailed planning application called a reserved matters application would then be prepared for the development. This would include further detail such as architecture, materials, detailed layout and landscaping. Both outline planning application and reserved matters are subject to statutory consultation carried out by the Local Planning Authority (Bromsgrove District Council).
